The Aramaic Component and Aramaisms in the Arabic Column of Ms. BL OR7562
Tamar Zewi
The author discusses various kinds of Aramaisms that can be found in the Samaritan adaptation of Saadiah's Tafsīr in MS: London, British Library, Or. 7562 and points out parallels to these elements in the Aramaic column of the same manuscript, in Christian Arabic translations of the Peshitta, and in Christian adaptations of the Tafsīr. It is through the latter channel, the author suggests, that the Saadian text of the London MS may have reached the Samaritans. Likewise, the possibility of Qaraite influence has to be considered.
