Abstract
Includes an English translation (based on the edition of Nemoy https://biblia-arabica.com/bibl/DLLAE32Q) of chap. 35 (“On Reading Any Non-Hebrew Script on the Sabbath Day”) in the fifth part of Yaʿqūb al-Qirqisānī’s Kitāb al-anwār wa-ʾl-marāqib, from which Ben-Shammai adduces testimony to the existence (and public reading) in the early-10th century of “at least one Judaeo-Arabic translation of the Bible (or, perhaps, the Pentateuch) ... and [which] might have been of Karaite origin” (p. 121).
